HENDERSON HAILS KJAER FOR ERIKSEN RECOVERY

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has hailed his AC Milan counterpart Simon Kjaerfor the role he played when Danish national team colleague Christian Eriksen fell ill during the Euro 2020 clash with Finland. Kjaer was quick to rush to the scene of the incident after Inter Milan playmaker Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during the game between Denmark and Finland in Group B.

 

Henderson praised Kjaer for the role he played in saving Eriksen’s life during his programme notes ahead of the Champions League game with AC Milan. According to him, Kjaer has the respect admiration of everyone in football.

Kjaerand Henderson are both expected to lead AC Milan and Liverpool outrespectively ahead of their Champions League Group B clash billed for Anfieldon Wednesday night.

Liverpool and Milan both have big injury news ahead of their third Champions League meeting. The Reds would be without young Harvey Elliott after he picked up a long-term ankle injury during the Premier League outing at the weekend, while veteran Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic misses out for the Rossoneri after picking up a knock in the Italian Serie A at the weekend.

Elliott saw his progress curtailed by the ankle injury sustained in the 3-0 away win over Leeds United on Sunday. He had started three successive games in the league until the injury happened following the tackle from Leeds United substitute Pascal Struijk. The utility player was sent off after the challenge on Elliott.

For Ibrahimovic, the former Juventus, Ajax Amsterdam and Inter Milan striker returned to the Milan squad for the Lazio game at the weekend after four months out with a knee injury. He came off the bench to score the second goal in the 2-0 win at home to capital club Lazio. In his pre-match presser, Milan boss Pioli told reporters that Zlatan will miss the Liverpool game after he got a knock in the Lazio game.
